A Not so Starry Night

My eyes, shut

My muscles, let loose

I’m falling,

Falling into an endless tunnel

My body, consumed in deep slumber

My eyes, now, open

My muscles, stiff

I’m standing

Standing on my legs

My mind convincing me that I’m scared

A night sky, never seen before

The moon bigger than it ever had been

The empty streets which with silence, roar

Not one soul is to be seen

The insects under the streetlights on the sidewalk

-the only living beings besides that dog,

Whom I spotted seconds before stepping on its tail

Was sound asleep after a probable tiresome day

Drops of sweat trickling down along the margins of my face

My hands trembling with fear

My lungs contracting and expanding with a much faster pace

I wish to hold on to my life, so dear

It seems as if there is someone behind that dusty old car

One which hasn’t been used for what seems like a generation

Someone watching me continuously, maybe there is or maybe there are

As I gather courage to pick up anything, that I could, as the only means of my preparation

I see someone walking past that curve

I could only see a portion of their cloth

Somewhat resembling my mother’s shirt

And I decide to shout “MOM!”

I find myself sitting on the bed

Light tearing through the gap between the curtains

I see my sister still asleep beside me

And I decide to fall back asleep as well.

Hi everyone! I know that NaPoWriMo has almost ended and I know that I am extremely late for this, however, I will be be using their prompts to write poems. The prompt that I used for this one was to describe a dream.
